What is OCTa?

3D Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) is an advanced extension of traditional 3D OCT technology, specifically designed to visualize blood flow in the retina without the need for dye injections. Here are the key features of both 3D OCT and OCTA:

Key Features of OCTA:

1. Angiographic Imaging: OCTA provides high-resolution images of blood vessels in the retina, allowing for the visualisation of blood flow patterns without contrast dye. This is particularly useful in diagnosing vascular conditions.

2. Early Detection: By highlighting changes in retinal blood flow, OCTA can help detect early signs of diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, and age-related macular degeneration

3. Non-invasive and Fast: Like 3D OCT, OCTA is also non-invasive, requiring no needles or dyes, and typically takes only a few minutes to complete, making it convenient for patients.

What is OCT

3D Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an advanced imaging technology used in eye care to capture detailed, three-dimensional images of the retina and other structures in the eye. Unlike traditional imaging methods, 3D OCT provides high-resolution cross-sectional images, allowing eye care professionals to visualize the microstructures of the retina with remarkable clarity.

Key Features of 3D OCT Technology:

1. High Resolution: 3D OCT produces images with exceptional detail, enabling the detection of subtle changes in the eye that may indicate conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, or diabetic retinopathy.

2. Non-invasive: This technology is safe and painless, requiring no injections or dyes. Patients can remain comfortable during the imaging process, which typically takes only a few minutes.

3. Comprehensive Analysis: With the ability to create three-dimensional images, 3D OCT allows for thorough assessment and monitoring of the retina over time. This helps in tracking disease progression and evaluating the effectiveness of treatments.

3D OCT enhances diagnostic accuracy and provides better-informed treatment options, ensuring your eye health is in expert hands.

Why choose the extended eye examination?

Standard Exam

Our standard eye examination is designed to provide a comprehensive assessment of your eye health and includes a detailed refraction to determine if you need glasses. During this exam, we take the time to thoroughly check the overall health of your eyes.

However, please note that while our standard exam covers essential evaluations, it does not include advanced testing that may be necessary if specific concerns arise during your visit. Should additional testing be indicated, we will discuss your options and recommend the appropriate follow-up to ensure your eyes receive the best possible care. Your vision and eye health are our top priorities!

Extended Exam

Our extended eye examination provides you with additional time to discuss your eye health and explore the best solutions for your needs. This comprehensive assessment includes standard Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanning, with OCT Angiography (OCTA) available if indicated.

In addition to these advanced imaging techniques, we also offer a range of other advanced tests, including biometry, advanced tonometry, pachymetry, topography, and visual fields testing, all at no extra cost. This thorough approach ensures a complete evaluation of your eye health and helps us create a personalized treatment plan tailored to you. Schedule your extended eye examination today and take the next step toward optimal vision!
