Standing out from the crowd!

Thompson & Hardwick Optometrists have been serving the local community for over 20 years, and we’re incredibly proud to be a single practice family independent optician. (Drew’s wife, Louise, is even the podiatrist upstairs!)

In the current climate, this is becoming rarer and rarer as local practices are acquired by the larger chain operators.

Our focus is always on customer care and clinical excellence.

That’s why we’re constantly looking for new and innovative ways to take care of your eyesight and general wellbeing!

We’ve had 3D Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanning available in our practice for over 11 years now. And we believe we were one of the first (if not THE first!) to have this technology on the Fylde coast.

This non-invasive imaging test uses light waves to take pictures of the back of your eye, the retina. This can then be used to assist in diagnosing and treating conditions, such as glaucoma and other retina diseases.

We’re currently updating this technology to have the capability of mapping retinal blood vessels for even greater health screening too!

We also consider ourselves somewhat of an expert in the area of contact lenses!

Our partner, Drew, regularly attends the hospital to support the cornea service, and he also runs a traumatic eye visual rehabilitation service.

Our lenses have even been featured on the silver screen, with our designs used on the small screen AND big Hollywood productions!

Inspiring the next generation.

We’re incredibly proud of our heritage, but we’re also excited and committed to helping the next generation grow. We’ll soon be joined by a student, and we’re looking forward to welcoming them to the team and being part of their educational journey.

Customer service is at the heart of what we do.

We’re always looking for ways to offer our customers personalised care and keep them at the forefront of our product and service design.

Did you know that we’ve even been known to carry out 3D printing projects for patients who have needed spare parts for their cars and things they can’t source anymore! Talk about personalised care!

Thank you for supporting local!

It was incredibly humbling to be nominated for a COVID Heroes Award at the recent Opticians Awards in London. Our practice, patients, and community are so important to us, so it was nice to be recognised at this prestigious event.

Thank you to all of you for your amazing messages of support. It meant the world to us!
