Thompson & Hardwick Optometrists nominated for COVID Heroes Award!

Recognising and rewarding excellence for a quarter of a century, the highly respected Optician Awards are taking place on Thursday 2nd December at Grosvenor House in London.

We’re incredibly excited to have been nominated for a COVID Heroes Award, which aims to highlight individuals and practice teams who went the extra mile during the pandemic.

Remaining open throughout the entire pandemic, we were able to attend to emergency patients, as well as work at the Hospital Eye Service, seeing emergency cornea patients.

We’re also fully committed to our independent prescriber status to help relieve the burden on local GPs and to prevent people from attending hospital.

In addition, we produced and supplied over 1,500 face shields, which we donated to the NHS, local hospices, care homes, schools, charities, and individuals in need. This was a mammoth task undertaken over 11 weeks, and we provided all masks free of charge.

In recognition of our efforts, one of our partners, Drew Thompson, was also named as a Fylde COVID Hero and presented with a High Sheriff’s Award!

We’re passionate about our strong ties to the local community, and we’re so proud to have been considered for another prestigious award.

We can’t wait to hear the results on 2nd December. Keep everything crossed for us!
