We are very excited to announce that we have been nominated by the Optician magazine as the UK Optometrist of the year 2022.
We believe in providing an excellent service to all our patients, and this award nomination is the culmination of all that hard work and it would not have been possible without the support of our team!
What's more, this is the second year that we have made the shortlist. To be recognised among the elite primary eyecare providers in the UK is a real endorsement and serves as confirmation that we are heading in the right direction as an integrated community business.
The Optician Awards are the most prestigious optical industry accolades and are supported by respected colleagues and heavy weight optical companies, including the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital.
This nomination is in recognition of the work that we do. Most recently that has been the implementation of emergency eyecare within the community. The expansion of these clinics has become a key part of our practice and we welcome any patient to get in touch with the practice if they are in need of urgent eyecare. Being one of only two independent prescribers on the Fylde Coast Drew Thompson has provided rapid urgent care for many patients over the last two years, efficiently dealing with complaints and keeping people out of hospital or GP clinics. This has proved quite popular within the community.
Drew has also been active within the industry press having most recently released clinical case studies for the Scottish Optical Society and video tutorials for another national industry magazine, Optometry Today.
Through his Hospital clinic at Blackpool Victoria, Drew also manages and rehabilitates patients with ocular trauma and eye disease. "I really like making a difference to peoples lives with the use of tailor-made contact lenses. You can often see their whole demeanour change, it's written all over their face in a big smile, when we manage to get the right solution. It's a really satisfying part of my job" said drew when asked about his hospital contact lens work.
Above all Thompson & Hardwick is a family owned and run practice with the Lytham community at it's heart. We are here to solve visual and ocular symptoms improving our patients quality of life through eye care. Whether that is simply by providing some stylish new environmentally minded glasses or diagnosing and managing complex eye conditions, we are here for you.
